Many students in Philadelphia begin school without the supplies they need to ensure a successful year. Essentials like pens, pencils, paper and backpacks can often be a luxury, but they shouldn’t have to be. That is why we partnered with Cradles to Crayons, The Philadelphia School District, and Whole Foods Market to launch UberSCHOOL, to ensure all students get the proper supplies to succeed.

As part of the initiative, we called on our dedicated community of riders and driver-partners, asking them to help by hosting donation bins in their offices. The response far exceeded our expectations. Over 50 organizations collected thousands of items for students in need.

Senator Anthony Williams, Representative Jordan Harris, and Representative Jason Dawkins also hosted donation bins to collect supplies for students in their school districts. We greatly appreciate their support and commitment to helping generate awareness of such an important issue.

I applaud Uber, Cradles to Crayons, and Whole Foods Market for organizing such an important and impactful donation drive. As we start another school year, we must all recognize that the success of our children starts with a quality education, and I’m proud to be a part of this initiative that helped provide much needed and well deserved supplies to students in several schools in my 8th senatorial district.
