We’ve met some of the most talented chefs and entrepreneurs in the world through UberEATS and we’re inspired. These businesswomen are starting and running their own restaurants, building brands that people love (like, really love), and shaking up local food scenes. How are they turning a passion into something people are passionate about? We asked restauranteur, Kelly Keith from Bon Glaze, a local  Atlanta favorite known for doughnuts that taste as good as they look, to share a taste of her wisdom.

‘Kelly, what advice would you give to an aspiring female chef or restaurant owner?’

The best advice that I can give is to “Make connections.”

Women want to help and are more than willing to help other women. In addition to reaching out to women, reach out to your male friends. Many of my first-breaks came from male mentors and friends. It’s never too late to reconnect with old friends.

Expand your network and connect with as many companies and organizations as you can!

My second piece of advice would be to “ask for help and be specific with your ask.”

Make a point to spell-out exactly what you need help with. Be specific! For example, I would invite people to, “Be a part of a VIP tasting and bring 10 friends” or “introduce me to your head of hospitality, social media manager, or executive administrator that manages office meals.”

People want to help. Make it easy on them, and tell them exactly what you need from them!
