In Pennsylvania, alcohol-related motor vehicle deaths exceed the national average by 24%. In an effort to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving, we set up our Uber breathalyzer kiosk in Manayunk on Thanksgiving Eve — a night when people around the country enjoy catching up with old friends and hitting the town’s haunts. This New Year’s Day, keep a look out for the Uber breathalyzer kiosk in Center City during the Mummers Parade, as we continue to encourage Philadelphians to opt for a safe ride home.

At Uber, we’re changing the way people think about drinking and driving. Cities that have Uber have seen a 3.6%-5.6% decrease in the number of people killed in cars due to alcohol, according to a 2015 study by Temple University. By providing a reliable ride at the push of a button — no matter the time or place — Uber is empowering people to make better, safer choices.
