Meet Jon: husband, business owner, photographer of lost items, and Uber driver-partner. Read on to learn about how Jon utilizes Uber to help supplement his own small business.

After retiring from a 25-year long career at an auto factory, Jon accidentally began his business of arranging music for acapella groups. He has been involved in barbershop harmony quartets for 39 years, and currently directs 3 choruses. When one of his choruses needed new music arranged, Jon took on the responsibility himself. Now 13 years later, Jon runs a business selling music arrangements online at NicholasArrangements.com.

“It’s something I never anticipated happening,” he told us, “But my music is sold all over the world now!”

But selling music isn’t Jon’s only way of earning income–he also drives with Uber part time in Lexington. Two of his fellow quartet members described how they used the Uber platform as an additional source of money, and Jon immediately knew he wanted to try it out. Soon thereafter, Jon was zipping around the streets of Lexington helping riders get from place to place.

Jon’s favorite part about Uber and running his own business are one and the same: flexibility. Jon enjoys setting his own hours and not being required to wake up to an alarm clock each day, along with the ability to travel with his wife when they like. “In fact, we’re going to Houston to visit our son for Thanksgiving, and Uber helped to pay for that trip,” he shared.

Be sure to say hello to this songbird if you see him out and about in Lexington!
