As part of our 3 year anniversary of Uber in the Ocean State, riders had the chance to nominate their favorite drivers to win the coveted Sixth Star Award.

We celebrated all of our nominees with a special luncheon in Providence, during which we announced our two winners and presented them with the grand prize: a staycation at the Dean Hotel in Providence, as well as a box suite at an upcoming Providence Bruins game for their family and friends.

This Sunday, we will honor both winners on ice at the Bruins’ game at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Today, we are proud to share their stories.

Meet Bernard

Bernard has completed over 700 trips and maintains an impressive 4.86 rating. He is praised for using his local knowledge of Federal Hill and Downtown Providence to entertain and engage his riders in conversations and stories about the neighborhood over the years.

“I’ve had quite a career, but I tell everyone Uber is the best job I’ve ever had. Every Uber Rider becomes family – I can take them wherever they want to go, safely, comfortably and without the chaos, all the while earning money. I just turned seventy years old but being an Uber Partner makes me feel vibrant and youthful.

Every day I get to meet new people. I love the diversity and meeting people from all walks of life. It’s like being in a mobile classroom. I’ve learned so much and am amazed at how much goodness there is in our society.”

Meet Harley

Harley has completed over 3000 trips! He received a record-breaking 44 nominations and is praised by all of his riders for his warm personality, excellent service, and fun conversations. His 4.88 rating certainly backs that up.

“Living in Providence with so many college students around, I wish a service like Uber was around when I was younger.

Uber is helping to keep Rhode Island safe and I hope that out of the over 3000 rides I have given in the last year that I have saved at least one person’s life.

Uber is my way of giving back to the community – each ride I give is a potential life I’m saving and not losing another person young or old to drinking and driving.”

Bernard and Harley are two among many driver-partners in Rhode Island who truly embody the Uber spirit, going above and beyond every day to provide safe and reliable rides to their communities.

Thank you to everybody who helped us celebrate Uber’s first three years in Rhode Island. It has been an incredible ride so far, and we look forward to continuing on this journey with all of you.
