With a staggering 30 million visitors per year, The Galleria is one of the premier shopping destinations in the country. With Houstonians preparing to go back to school, it’s no surprise that The Galleria was last week’s top destination. We spoke with Chris Lane, Director of Marketing at The Galleria, to find out what makes the largest mall in Texas a prime Uber destination.

“Uber makes a lot of sense for people who don’t want to worry about parking,” Lane said. “Nearly 30 percent of our shoppers are visiting Houston, many of whom rely on Uber to get to The Galleria.”

Spanning 2.4 million square feet and housing more than 400 retailers, The Galleria continues to find ways to elevate the shopping experience. The opening of a state-of-the-art Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store earlier this year was the culmination of a multi-year transformation.

“We serve a wide range of age groups and demographics,” Lane explains. “Our amenities range from a full-size ice rink, a children’s play area, and two swimming pools to tailor shops and beauty salons.”

On Thursday, September 15, The Galleria will host a luxury, invite-only runway show in conjunction with Vogue. The ice rink will be transformed into a unique event space, and shoppers will be able to enjoy the show from the common areas around the rink.
