This week marked the first anniversary of the UberEATS app launch in DC and to celebrate, we want to take a moment to recognize the amazing fleet of couriers that keep our business moving.

Our mission – getting eaters the food they love at the convenience of Uber speed – wouldn’t be possible without the work our couriers do. From tackling the roads in stormy weather to fulfilling late night cookie craving requests, our couriers play an integral and invaluable role in the story of how we got to where we are today.

A special shoutout of appreciation goes out to Azubuike Onwumere, who holds the title for highest number of EATS deliveries completed this past year. Onwumere has delivered 4,978 orders since joining our platform in July of 2016, citing schedule flexibility and the interactions between restaurants and customers as his favorite aspects of the job.

“That tri-part relationship – that begins with me, [goes to] the restaurants, and the customer eventually. That is the thing that makes me happy,” Onwumere says. “If they’re happy, I know that Uber is happy. I’m happy.”

As we reflect on the past year of UberEATS in DC, we don’t want to miss the opportunity to express our gratitude for the extraordinary efforts our couriers put in to go the extra mile and make the UberEATS experience more memorable.
