Tax season is in full swing, and while we can all agree that it’s not the most wonderful time of the year, it doesn’t have to be the most stressful, either. That’s why we’re excited to announce new API-powered partnerships with Intuit TurboTax, H&R Block, Stride and Credit Karma that are designed to minimize stress and maximize savings for people who drive with Uber in the US.

We launched the Driver API to give developers the tools and information they need to help us build a better, more rewarding driving experience. The API makes it easier for drivers to connect and integrate info like trip data and earnings — with their permission — to tax innovators big and small, which can make filing easier, more affordable and less stressful.

Intuit/TurboTax

With TurboTax Self-Employed, Uber partners can easily import their 1099s, eliminating the hassle of data entry.  Plus, they get priority access to live one-on-one answers from credentialed experts on demand – and save $20 when they file.

H&R Block

Uber partners can use H&R Block’s new TaxEdgeSM iOS app to bring their 1099 data in seamlessly and prepare their taxes with a professional through their mobile device, or get special discounts when filing their taxes in an H&R Block office or online. H&R Block Tax Experts also will be available at Greenlight locations to help Uber partners maximize their filings.

Stride

Stride provides every Uber partner nationwide with a completely free end-to-end tax filing solution. Stride directly integrates into the Uber Driver API to help driver partners nationwide understand their 1099s and find eligible deductions. Uber partners can then visit Credit Karma Tax to file their taxes for free.

The Driver API supports innovations that help Uber partners get the most out of every mile, whether they drive a few hours or five days a week. Because even though being your own boss has its rewards, we could all use a helping hand from time to time.
