Celebrating UberMILITARY Partners in San Antonio this Fourth of July
Written byIndependence Day brings people together to share the joy of this great country and the freedoms we enjoy. It is a time of hot dogs on the grill, drinks in the cooler, and a splash in the water. This weekend, we also celebrate the UberMILITARY driver partners who have served in the armed forces. Their commitment to country and community is evident when in uniform and when behind the wheel. Let’s meet a few of the UberMILITARY driver partners in San Antonio who make all this possible!
Meet David
David has also driven on the Uber platform for over two years, after first hearing about Uber during Fiesta. After seeing a post on social media about Uber, he said, “that’s my weekend job right there.” David is a former officer in the Navy and was based in Denver, CO, his hometown. David says he has the Navy to thank for his entire career. After his military service, David pursued a career in broadcasting. He used his GI Bill to pay for a broadcasting course in Denver and then got a job at a radio station in Kansas City. He played music at the radio station in Kansas City for 35 years! David moved to San Antonio in 2012 because of the ability “to play golf every day” if I wanted to. David goes on to tell us, “I love being able to turn on the app and make money when I want to. I enjoy playing golf during the week and then I enjoy driving with Uber on the weekend. I love to talk and to meet people and that’s one of the things I like about Uber: being able to visit with people. It’s also allowed me to learn more of San Antonio. It’s been great to be able to explore more of the city. I’ve been able to explore the city like I have never been able to in other places that I have lived. It’s great to know all the places to see in San Antonio.” Thanks, David!
We are all grateful for the service of these members of our communities and their efforts to keep us safe, on and off the road.
Meet Charles
Charles (Chuck) has driven on the Uber platform for about a year and a half after he heard “there is a way to make money by driving around in your own car.” The flexibility of the platform and Chuck’s joy of driving is what really drew him to Uber. “Uber is my hobby. I like people and I like driving. Outside of my full-time, I really like to drive with Uber. I also like taking road trips with my wife into the texas hill county.” Chuck moved to San Antonio with no job, but with a lot of faith, and he was able to find an earning opportunity with Uber to make ends meet. He now has a full-time job, but still enjoys driving after work and at night to help people when they need a ride home. “A lot of people are surprised when they see an F-150 pull up, and they really love it when they are headed to the airport.” Thanks, Charles!
