This month, Uber provided its millionth uberX ride in Rhode Island, a milestone achieved in just two years since our launch. Since arriving in the Ocean State in September 2013, we’ve connected over 150,000 Rhode Island visitors and residents with a safe, affordable transportation option and over 3,000 driver-partners with an opportunity to support themselves and their families.

With Uber, riders across the state now have access to affordable and safe rides. The average wait time for an Uber is just 4 minutes in Providence, and only 5 minutes in greater Rhode Island. This means that from Woonsocket to Cranston to Newport, riders have a new way to get around and access all that the Ocean State has to offer.

We’re excited to provide more choices not only for riders, but also for thousands of Uber driver-partners, who now have an opportunity to be their own boss and set their own schedules. We have heard countless stories from our driver-partners about how the income and flexibility from our platform allows them to achieve their goals, from spending more time with their families to earning supplemental income to help make ends meet to saving up for a business idea.

Today, we had the chance to celebrate this amazing milestone with hundreds of Rhode Island driver-partners. Cathy Zhou, the General Manager of Uber Rhode Island, made the announcement in front of nearly 200 driver-partners and thanked them for all they are doing to move Rhode Island.

We were honored to have driver-partners Paul Rouquie and Marie Jean share their experiences. Join us in thanking them and all our driver-partners in the state for helping to provide one million affordable, reliable and safe rides – we look forward to a million more!
