Calling all foodies to celebrate this month’s national food holidays! We’re kicking 2017 off with good eats and where to find them in Los Angeles. Did you know there is a food holiday for almost every day of the year? We know it can be hard to keep up, which is why we’ve narrowed it down to some of our favorites along with restaurant recommendations.

Here are a few days to mark in your calendar:

January 19: National Popcorn Day

Why settle for your average movie theater popcorn when you can get Roy Choi’s funky kettle corn concoction from A-Frame. Inspired by a Hawaiian snack, the medley consists of sweet and salty kettle corn, corn pops, pineapple, bacon, and the Japanese seaweed seasoning known as furikake. Also on the Westside, Tar & Roses’ popped corn mixes crisp bacon, brown sugar, and chili and is a must-have on the menu. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, try Estrella’s popcorn with crustacean salt, freeze dried corn, and sage butter which is sure to make your taste buds tingle.

January 23: National Pie Day

National Pie Day would not be complete without mentioning The Pie Hole. The well-known L.A. bakery has expanded to several locations throughout SoCal to serve up sweet and savory pies from their “Mexican Chocolate” to “Chicken ‘n’ Cornbread”. Meanwhile, custard pies are the name of the game at Atticus Creamery & Pies, with flavors like lemon lavender and coconut banana. If those aren’t enticing enough, you’re sure to find a pie that suits your fancy with artisanal classics at Republic of Pie in North Hollywood.

January 27: National Chocolate Cake Day

Sweet Lady Jane is always a crowd pleaser and so is their “Old Fashioned Chocolate” which stands at 7 inches tall. The dark chocolate cake is filled with French chocolate buttercream, frosted with Belgian chocolate ganache, and topped with a mound of imported chocolate curls. The “Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake” at République is a piece of heaven on a plate. The Valhorna chocolate layers are held together by oozing salted caramel making it one of the best cakes in Los Angeles. If those aren’t your style, try Bea’s Bakery’s light and fluffy milk chocolate cake which is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Whatever you choose, don’t forget a tall glass of milk!

So grab an Uber and celebrate with friends at your favorite restaurant. Don’t feel like going out? Place an order on the UberEATS app or go online to ubereats.com and enjoy a tasty treat right from the comfort of your own couch.
