Freelance graphic designer Nalus Gomez is a multilingual driver-partner with Massachusetts roots and New York design training. A graduate of Pratt Institute’s design and illustration program, he describes his aesthetic as “bold and eclectic.”

Nalus was inspired to start driving by a friend who was “making bank on weekends with Uber.” He jumped on the chance to make extra money while building his design portfolio.

“I drive with Uber because it gives me the flexibility I need to balance multiple jobs. The best thing about Uber is that you can drive whenever you want. It gives me the opportunity to still have a social life and take great vacations.”

Spanning from festival posters and book covers to paintings and drawings, his portfolio primarily consists of print designs in illustrative and modern styles. Nalus explains, “I like to use color to make neutral designs pop.”

Driving with Uber is a family affair for the Gomezes. Nalus’s mom partnered with Uber as an uberXL driver-partner before he started driving. “My mom and I always talk about our driving experiences and share traffic tips.”

When on the road, Nalus practices his fluency in five languages: Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, and English. His most memorable trip was with an interpreter. They had an engaging conversation in several languages along the way.

“Driving with Uber gives me the opportunity every day to practice speaking different languages with someone unexpected. I’m constantly learning something new.”

Hoping to move West to California, Nalus is thrilled about Uber’s national scope. He plans to continue driving wherever he goes since he can “do it anywhere, anytime.”
