Driver-partner Juan Bautista of Malden seeks inspiration for his photography wherever he goes. As he drives in Boston, he relishes the beautiful sights. The hidden history and natural landscape continue to amaze him despite his 21 years living in Massachusetts.

“There are so many beautiful views that we take for granted. The views are amazing just driving around the city.”

He enjoys seeing the architecture from different perspectives and the many ways Boston reveals its character. Juan observes, “The tiny streets of Beacon Hill and Charlestown can reflect the whole city.”

His favorite part about driving is the chance to meet people from all around the world. Juan particularly enjoyed conversing with a rider from New Zealand—one of his dream travel destinations.

Juan shares his artistic insights with the photography enthusiasts among his riders. When an Emerson College photography student asked him for advice, he shared, “Just use your instinct and shoot things that you really love and the story will come out.”

Initially a painter, Juan’s interest in photography began in his childhood. “My father had a camera that I wasn’t allowed to touch. When he wasn’t around, I would play with it.” These sneaky snapshots sparked his lifelong passion.

“You can capture a moment and have it forever. With a single shot you can tell so much. That’s what I love.”

Juan describes his photography work as projecting a cinematography look. Articulating the power of storytelling on the road, he reflects, “People love hearing stories. It’s amazing that the love we share for great stories as human beings connects us all.”
