Today, the Birmingham City Council passed sensible ridesharing regulations that will enable us to bring uberX to the Magic City. After more than a year and half of debate, Birmingham will soon no longer be one of the largest U.S. cities without Uber.

THANK YOU, Council President Austin!

None of this would have been possible without the leadership of Council President Johnathan Austin and support from City Councilors Lundy, Scales, Hoyt, Parker, Tyson and Roberson. They have followed in the footsteps of dozens of U.S. jurisdictions, passing rules that will allow you to experience the same Uber used in places like Nashville and Atlanta.

WHAT’S IN THE LAW:

  •      Background checks on all driver-partners
  •      $1 million primary insurance coverage during Uber rides
  •      Inspections on any ridesharing vehicle

Of course, thank you! We couldn’t have done it without your powerful voices.  We look forward to Mayor Bell signing the legislation, and bringing uberX ridesharing to the Magic City before the end of the year.
