In the city that never sleeps, there’s of course no shortage of special things to do with Mom come Mother’s Day. In need of some suggestions? Here are nine places to enjoy with the leading lady of your life on Mother’s Day weekend.

Things to Do on Mother’s Day in NYC

1. Visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Treat Mom to a trip to one of the most well-known museums in the world. Featuring multiple levels and wings, there’s something for everyone — not to mention a cafe perfect for a late afternoon bite or cup of coffee.

Where: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Ave, New York

2. Walk along The High Line

Head to one of New York City’s most Instagrammed spots for a scenic family photo. The High Line is a great spot to take in the city from above and spend quality time with Mom. With multiple entrance points along the way, it’s easy to Uber to the High Line and enter from multiple cross streets.

Where: Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues

3. Picnic at Prospect Park

Nothing says “Mother’s Day” like a family picnic and outdoor hangout. Hop in an Uber and head to Prospect Park with Mom and set up on the lawn for a relaxing afternoon. Or, for a bit more of an adventure, take the walking path throughout the park and stop at the zoo or lake.

Where: Brooklyn, NY

4. Shop on Smith Street in Brooklyn Heights

Smith Street is a perfect place to take Mom for some Mother’s Day window shopping. Extend the afternoon with a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge if you’re feeling ambitious — you can grab an Uber on either side once the group is ready to change plans.

Where: Brooklyn Heights

5. Get a Treat at Levain Bakery

Levain Bakery is a classic spot worth visiting with any Mom who has a sweet tooth. Though there’s often a line, the baked goods live up to the hype. Grab an Uber and head up the West Side to treat Mom to a cookie (or two).

Where: 167 W 74th St, New York

6. Relax in Washington Square Park

Escape the craziness of the city and relax with Mom at Washington Square Park. Pose for a photo in front of the arch or grab food at one of the surrounding restaurants in NoHo. The best part: when you’re ready to go, just request an Uber and get picked up anywhere around the perimeter of the park.

Where: Greenwich Village, Lower Manhattan

7. Tour the MoMa PS1

Treat Mom to an afternoon outside of Manhattan and hop in an Uber to MoMa PS1 in Astoria. This museum features large open spaces for meandering and a cafe with many food and drink offerings.

Where: 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City

8. Get Crafty at Paint & Sip Studio

Put your artistic (and relaxation) skills to the test with Mom at a Paint & Sip class, where you can enjoy a glass of wine while painting — no experience necessary. A bit out of midtown Manhattan, this studio is located on W. 80th Street in the Upper West Side.

Where: 246 W 80th St, New York

9. Explore SoHo

If Mom is a shopper, you’ll want to dedicate some time to wandering through SoHo. As the Manhattan neighborhood with the densest selection of stores, SoHo is a retail aficionado’s playground. Catch an Uber to head to Prince Street and see all SoHo has to offer.

Where: SoHo, Lower Manhattan

Whatever you mother’s interests are, you’ll undoubtedly find a picturesque place, a fun adventure, or a memorable meal to share with your mom in New York City.
