Tips Policy
Purpose of policy
- We want drivers to be rewarded for great service. Riders have the option to tip directly from the Uber app after a trip has been completed (although we do not require them to do so nor specifically encourage this).
- The aim of this policy is to provide drivers with the guidance and information necessary to ensure we are fair and transparent in our approach to the allocation of tips.
- This policy supports the principles in the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 and the Code of Practice on Fair and Transparent Distribution of Tips.
Scope of policy
- This policy applies to drivers that drive with Uber in the UK, including those who drive via a fleet partner. The policy is non-contractual and we may amend it at any time.
Tips covered by this policy
This policy covers tips paid by riders via the Uber app following completion of a trip. Riders can add a tip up to 30 days after a trip.
Allocation of tips
- 100% of all tips received by us via the Uber app have always been and will continue to be allocated to drivers. Each driver will receive the full tip received from a rider following completion of any trip he/she completes.
- We think that this is the fairest way to allocate tips received from riders as it ensures that each driver is rewarded for the great service he/she has provided to the rider.
Details and payment of tips
- You can track your tips in the Earnings section of the Uber app. Tips will also be detailed in your weekly statement and paid within 7 days of receipt from a rider.
- Drivers that drive for a fleet partner will receive their tips directly from the fleet partner. Tips will be paid no later than the end of the month following the month in which the rider paid the tip.
How can I check my allocation is correct?
To ensure fairness and transparency, all drivers may request information regarding tips relating to the total amount of tips they have been allocated in a given period (a maximum of three years of historic data from 1 October 2024).
- Requests can be submitted a maximum of once every three months. Requests should be made in writing under the Help Section of the app.
- Drivers that drive for a fleet partner should make a request directly through their fleet partner.
Concerns about your allocation of tips
- If you have any concern regarding the process or your allocation of tips or any other questions, please contact us via the Help section of the app. Drivers that drive for a fleet partner should contact their fleet partner directly with any concerns.
