Pair & Pay: link street-hailed taxi trips to Uber app
The new ‘Pair & Pay’ feature links street‑hailed taxi rides to the Uber app, giving you access to a range of rewards, including a $20 off your current ride offer, Uber One credits (for Uber One members), and Asia Miles (for linked accounts with Cathay).
Next time you hail a taxi from the street, look out for a ‘Pair & Pay’ leaflet on the back of the driver’s seat. A nice surprise could be waiting for you!

How to use Pair & Pay?
After hailing a taxi from the street, look out for the Pair & Pay leaflet on the back of the driver's seat.
Step 1: Scan the QR code
Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code on the leaflet. A yellow link will appear on your screen — tap it to continue.
Step 2: Open the Uber App
If you already have the Uber rider app installed, you'll be taken there automatically. If not, you'll be redirected to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download it.
Step 3: Enter your destination
Once successfully paired, the Uber app will display the destination entry screen. Enter your destination to proceed.
💡 Seeing an error message? Ask your driver to check that their Uber driver app is online, or request them to display the QR code on their driver app and scan again.
Step 4: Confirm your trip
After entering your destination, a Pair & Pay confirmation screen will appear. Once confirmed, the Uber app will record your full journey.
- Fare is calculated based on the metered rate — no Uber admin fee applies
- Select your preferred e-payment method (credit card, Uber Cash, or other in-app wallet options are accepted; cash payment is not applicable to Pair & Pay trips — to avoid duplicate payment, please do not pay the driver in cash)
Step 5: End of trip and payment
Upon arrival, your driver will enter the metered fare in their driver app. Before alighting, check the fare displayed on the driver's app to make sure the amount is correct. Payment will then be completed via your Uber rider app.
Once the trip is completed, the HK$20 ride discount offer will be automatically applied (new users can enjoy the HK$100 ride offer). Uber One members will also receive 10% credits, and users with a linked Cathay Pacific account can earn Asia Miles. All applicable rewards will be credited to your account automatically after the trip ends.
You can view your trip history and receipts in the app at any time. Customer support is also available should you need assistance.
