Manager, Accounting Process
This is a hybrid role and you must be located in, or willing to relocate to, Dallas or San Francisco for the position.
About the Role
As the Manager of Accounting Process, you will serve as the strategic architect for our earner and partner payment lifecycle. This is a pivotal role dedicated to driving transformational initiatives and process orchestration ensuring the data integrity, completeness, and accuracy of our financial statements while driving the efficiency of our global payment operations.
You will combine a detective’s eye for data reconciliation with an architect’s mindset for system design and programme management. Your work will directly impact the company's ability to scale business models and uphold data governance while maintaining a robust, SOX-compliant control environment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Transformational Initiatives: Program-manage large-scale, end-to-end process streamlining and finance transformation initiatives from inception to execution. This includes driving alignment with stakeholders & leadership, workshop facilitation, preparing steering committee presentations/program updates for process orchestration & change management
- Act as Global Process Owner : Serve as the strategic architect and custodian of earner and partner payment lifecycle, ensuring a unified global approach and maintaining the overall health i.e. "accounting hygiene" of earner & partner payment systems and policies.
- Own the "Source of Truth": Be responsible for data integrity within the process, including extraction, reconciliation, and verification of complete data flow, compliance and analysing data and proving critical inputs & insights for accounting
- Identify risk and implement controls across the end-to-end process; responsible for testing operational efficiencies and ensuring SOX compliance.
- Data Governance: Build out a unified governance framework for diverse earner payment streams globally including building & maintaining KPIs to measure effectiveness
- Lead the service desk for the US timezone includes prioritization and execution of tickets received and providing expert guidance on process to end users
- Operationalize New Ventures: Design and implement payment process for new products, services, and business model changes including assess and monitor accounting implications
- Strategize and build finance rules and policies; lead the implementation and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process workflows, SOPs, and process maps, to support seamless system integration.
- Build management reporting for earner and partner payments, reconciling them to financial statements and provide data insights to leadership
- Orchestrate Digital Transformation: Architect the technical roadmap, collaborating with cross functional teams for process evolution, utilizing GenAI and low-code solutions to drive global process automation and operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
- 6+ years of progressive experience in Finance process, operations or accounting of commercial contracts with a focus on payment process design, controls & operational implementation
- Deep understanding of Finance processes, specifically upstream processes, data governance, financial analysis, and their control environment
- Proficiency in SQL and Advanced Excel/Macros and data modelling to handle large volumes of data and draw insights and conclusions
- Experience with process solution design, orchestrate global transformation, or design enterprise-wide finance architecture and project management
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications (CA,CPA,CMA,MBA Finance)
- A good eye for detail, with the ability to drill down when necessary whilst maintaining a helicopter view
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data validation, reporting, and KPI development
- Working knowledge of G-suite and reporting tools
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, specifically senior management. This includes strong written and verbal communication, active listening, and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
- Experience with financial systems, data lifecycle management, and ensuring high data quality for automated processes
For Dallas, TX-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$131,000 per year - USD$145,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$146,000 per year - USD$162,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
