Manager, Analytics - Financial Operations
This is a hybrid role and you must be located in, or willing to relocate to, San Francisco for the position.
About the Role
Our team delivers the critical information and analyses that drive strategic decisions within Uber Financial Operations We equip our partners and their stakeholders with timely, accurate, and actionable insights to achieve their objectives. Simply put, while FinOps manages the engine of Finances operational transactions, FinOps Analytics provides the compass by leveraging AI, Tableau dashboards, and data analysis to chart our course.
- Manage a team of developer analysts in the creation and enhancement of insightful and actionable analytics
- Own the full lifecycle of operational metrics—from KPI design to dashboard deployment and stakeholder adoption to design metrics that drive accountability, surface inefficiencies, and guide automation.
- Utilize predictive modeling techniques to support scenario analysis, helping the FinOps team to understand potential financial outcomes based on various business strategies.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and create reports as requested by leadership to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
- Drive automation efforts for reporting, leveraging AI and other data science tools to increase efficiency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
Data Privacy & Strategic Oversight
- Fintech Partnership: Serve as the primary link between our business leaders and the technology teams, ensuring our technical resources are always focused on the projects with the highest financial return.
- Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle for our data initiatives, from gathering business requirements and vetting return on investment (ROI) to ensuring our technology partners deliver high-quality solutions on time.
- Business & Technology Liaison: Translate business needs into technical reality and ensure any system issues are resolved quickly to minimize impact on the business.
- Data Privacy: Manage the security of our sensitive financial information, ensuring that travel and third-party spending details are only visible to appropriate users.
Team Leadership
- Team Development & Mentorship: Lead a global team of analysts through structured weekly coaching and quarterly performance reviews, focusing on building the technical and strategic skills to be strategic partners who help their business leads make better decisions.
- Workflow Optimization: Manage our department’s "intake engine," using centralized tools to review, prioritize, and assign all incoming data requests to ensure our team’s and Fintech's capacity is always aligned with the highest-value business needs.
- Organizational Enablement: Act as a lead educator for the broader CAO organization, providing the training and resources necessary for non-technical teams to leverage our data for better decision-making.
AI Strategy & Future Readiness
- Internal AI Champion: Lead the transition from old-fashioned static charts to interactive AI Assistants that allow our teams to get instant answers to complex financial questions.
- AI Quality & Accuracy: Direct the feedback and "fine-tuning" process for our AI tools to ensure they are 100% accurate, reliable, and grounded in Uber’s official financial records.
- Advanced Problem Solving: Pioneer new tools that use AI to instantly explain the "why" behind changes in our global metrics, saving hours of manual research.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience managing global teams
- Project Management and Change Management
- Proficiency in Tableau, Jira, Asana, Excel, G-Suite
- Troubleshooting systems
- 6+ years of work experience in finance analytics, data analytics, or within a similar field
- Experience with SQL
- Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field
- Experience in Oracle Analytics Services and Fusion Reporting
- Experience with Tableau dashboard design
- Experience with Ramp
- Expert SQL skills.
- High technical proficiency in common analytics & reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Google Data Studio, Google Sheets/Excel).
- Experience in Python
- Advanced data analysis skills leading to actionable recommendations.
- Experience in leading high-visibility projects and influencing others in a cross-functional team environment
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Curious, self-directed, and impact-driven—you chase high-impact problems to deliver solutions.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and switching contexts in a fast-moving environment
- Strong storytelling ability: Distilling exciting and hard-to-find insights into a compelling, concise data story.
- Experience in data extraction, wrangling, and building pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to drive projects independently.
- Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and process standardization.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
