Lead, Earner Engagement — Uber Eats Japan

About the Role

At Uber Eats Japan, we are looking for a strategic and highly motivated leader to join us as the Lead, Earner Engagement. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping the Delivery Partner (DP) experience, driving our reputation initiatives, and championing our earners' needs in the dynamic Japanese market.

You will partner closely with Marketing, Policy, and Safety teams to create impactful, real-life campaigns that elevate the earner experience and public perception. As an advocate for our earners, you will lead a dedicated team to enhance loyalty programs, support crucial product rollouts, and help our organization seamlessly navigate an evolving regulatory landscape.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of highly motivated individuals covering a critical mandate for our delivery partner vertical.
  • Reputation & Real-Life Campaigns: Partner with Marketing, Policy, and Safety teams to design and execute impactful, on-the-ground campaigns and engagement initiatives that elevate the reputation of delivery partners and build strong community trust.
  • Product & Loyalty Programs: Champion the delivery partner experience by collaborating with Product and Global Tech teams to seamlessly roll out critical earner-facing app features and map updates. Drive the strategy and evolution of earner loyalty initiatives, such as the Uber Eats Pro program, to ensure our partners feel valued and rewarded.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Support: Act as a key strategic partner to our Policy and Legal teams, supporting regulatory engagement initiatives (like the Future of Work). Guide the delivery partner operations organization to ensure smooth compliance with an evolving landscape, including frameworks like the Freelance Protection Act.
  • Strategic Communications: Oversee the overarching communication strategy for delivery partners. Act as a control tower to ensure a seamless, balanced, and high-quality flow of information across all lines of business, keeping earners informed without overwhelming them.

What the Candidate Will Need

  • Language Skills: Native-level proficiency in Japanese and business-level proficiency in English, to effectively operate between local stakeholders and global teams.
  • People Management: Prior people management experience, with a proven track record of guiding, developing, and motivating both internal staff and external resources.
  • Data Analytics: Basic data analytics proficiency (specifically SQL and spreadsheets) to track campaign impact, evaluate loyalty program metrics, monitor sentiment, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional interpersonal skills to navigate and influence cross-functional teams, including Legal, Policy, Product, CRM, and Marketing.
  • Problem Solving & Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to support complex business challenges, build robust operational processes, and pivot strategies smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points

  • Loyalty Experience: Proven experience managing, scaling, or revamping user loyalty programs, incentive designs, or perks structures.
  • Product Operations Experience: A background collaborating with Product teams to launch new app features, manage localization, and operationalize user feedback loops.
  • CRM/Campaign Expertise: Hands-on experience overseeing CRM initiatives, executing impactful engagement campaigns, and tracking end-to-end effectiveness.
  • AI & Internal Tooling: Experience leveraging modern generative AI tools and workflows to streamline team processes, automate routine tasks, and build internal efficiencies.
