About the Role

The India & South Asia (InSA) Mobility business spans over 100 cities across three countries and is pivotal in Uber's growth, profitability, and innovation roadmap. This region presents a unique blend of regulatory, competitive, and growth challenges, offering immense opportunities to innovate and lead.

The Strategy & Planning (S&P) team drives the strategic direction of our InSA business, coordinating efforts across Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other key functions. This team leads our long-term growth strategy, annual planning cycles, competitive strategy and responses, business forensics, and ensures governance of business cadences. It also serves as an incubator for new strategic initiatives, driving the launch of key products and partnerships.

What the Candidate Will Do

As part of the InSA leadership team, reporting to the Head of Strategy & Planning, APAC, this role will manage a team of associates and be a strategic partner to the President of India & South Asia Mobility business. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with global, regional, and local teams to shape, drive, and execute strategy across the region. The core responsibilities include:

  1. Strategy Development and Business Planning: Collaborate with the leadership team to define, align, and refine the long-term strategic vision for the InSA Mobility business. Lead the annual/bi-annual business planning processes, including developing priorities, OKRs, forecasts, and operational cadences to inform the leadership and organization about the business's trajectory.
  2. Competitive Intelligence: Oversee the end-to-end competitive analysis for the region, delivering insights that inform a clear understanding of the competitive landscape at both regional and market levels.
  3. Adjacent / New Growth: Seed the future with new growth bets/verticals and/or inorganic play / M&As
  4. Business Forensics: Manage regional governance, including monthly and quarterly business reviews. Conduct deep dives into business performance to identify long-term trends and opportunities.
  5. Program & Project Management and Exec Comms: Support and drive strategic initiatives across the region, including incubating new strategic bets and partnerships. Drive strategic conversations with APAC and global leadership, ensuring InSA priorities are covered in global forums. Take ownership of aligning key initiatives and influencing global roadmaps.
  6. Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop your team, fostering a high-performance culture and elevating the output of team members.

What the Candidate Will Need

  1. 10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, or a related field, with a deep understanding of the Indian e-commerce landscape. 5+ years of leadership experience, ideally managing both strategy and operational teams.
  2. Proven ability to identify and unlock new business opportunities, with a strong capacity for critical thinking and a holistic approach to complex business challenges.
  3. Demonstrated experience in building and executing growth strategies, driving both short-term wins and long-term scalability.
  4. Comfort with ambiguity, with a natural inclination for structuring and simplifying complex problems.
  5. Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution, ensuring a high standard of delivery while meeting deadlines.
  6. Be incredibly truth-seeking with information, set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively, communicate frequently and with high quality; then funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans.
