Jr Data Analyst

About the Role

This role is part of the Safety team within the Platform Integrity organization in Community Operations (CommOps). CommOps is responsible for developing a world-class customer support organization that scales effectively, is reliable and consistent, and provides unmatched service to our global Uber community.

The Safety Support Analytics Specialist will empower the global program and operational teams to manage business-critical metrics and identify improvement opportunities across support processes. As a data subject matter expert, you will drive impact by leveraging traditional analytics and modern AI-augmented workflows to provide insights that improve the safety and experience of the global Uber community.

What you'll do:

Responsibilities include:

1. Build and optimize "source of truth" data infrastructure, including dashboards and self-service tools, ensuring stakeholders can monitor performance and make data-driven decisions autonomously.
2. Leverage AI tools and automation to accelerate data exploration, automate recurring analytical tasks, and improve the speed-to-insight for the Safety domain.
3. Proactively analyze support trends to identify friction points, providing data-backed recommendations to optimize operational processes and business goals.
4. Conduct impact analysis and experimental design to assess the feasibility and long-term effectiveness of various safety-related programs and initiatives.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product and Operations, translating complex technical findings into actionable narratives for non-technical leadership.

Working Time Requirements - 8 hrs daily (Mondays through Fridays). The applicant will need to be ok working at least half of that time in US&C hours to engage effectively with manager, stakeholders and teammates.

Note: the manager of this team is based in Brazil - Sao Paulo; currently there are 4 team members in LatAm, 1 in EMEA.

Basic Qualifications:

At least 1 years experience in data analytics.

Strong analytics, SQL, and web query skills with ability to:

1. Select, clear and transform dataset
2. Write simple nested statements and queries for complex problems
3. Use Hive or Presto

Experience within Python or R, with the ability to:

1. Build self-operating dashboards
2. Work with third-party APIs (basics)
3. Use Pandas Library (skilled)

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to:

1. work with many business Stakeholders and tailor solutions to their needs
2. explain complex technical details to non-technical business audience (excellent written and spoken English)

Proficiency with at least 1 data visualization tool(e.g. Tableau, Looker Studio, Excel / Google Sheets)

Preferred Qualifications

Proven track record in:

1. Coding with best practices (optimized & reusable code, versioning, etc.)
2. Creating flows (ex.: Lucidchart)
3. Analyzing complex datasets and storytelling

Basic statistics knowledge, affinity with:

1. Experimental design and A/B Testing
2. Percentiles, distributions, regression analysis
3. Willingness to learn and use Uber experimentation platform

Exposure to:

1. Scrum process (e.g. Jira)
2. Interpretation and preparation of technical documentation

Experience utilizing AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot) to document, optimize, and scale analytical workflows.

Experience working with customer support or operations management.

Willingness to develop subject matter knowledge on Safety specific business processes to drive impactful analytic insights
