Head of Strategy & Planning, Uber Eats Spain

Strategy & Planning, Operations
in Madrid, Spain

About the Role

Spain is one of the most competitive and structurally complex food delivery markets in the world, and we aren't here to just participate—we’re here to lead. As the Head of Strategy & Planning, you won’t be sitting in an ivory tower crafting conceptual decks; you’ll be the architect and the builder of our path to winning. Spain is currently transitioning to a new economic reality with an employed courier model, and you will own the evolution of our business model to ensure we thrive under this new cost base.

This role is for a "player-coach" who finds energy in the messy reality of big challenges. You’ll need to set a high-level vision for the General Manager while simultaneously rolling up your sleeves to pressure-test that vision in the data yourself. If you are energized by high stakes, thrive in ambiguity, and care about building things that actually work in the real world, this is where you’ll make your mark.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect the Roadmap: Develop and execute the "where to play / how to win" strategy for Spain, navigating geographic prioritization and capital allocation in a high-intensity market.

  • Lead Business Evolution: Design the strategic response to Spain’s transition to an employed courier model, redesigning unit economics and pricing architecture to secure long-term profitability.

  • Operate as a Player-Coach: Lead a lean team where you spend the majority of your time as a senior individual contributor, personally querying large datasets with SQL to translate raw insights into decisive action.

  • Navigate Complexity: Influence without authority by partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Marketing, Policy, and regional leadership to align on priorities and unblock execution.

  • Own the Planning Cycle: Lead business planning and OKR governance to ensure the Spain leadership team makes disciplined, data-driven decisions at Uber speed.

  • Advise at the Highest Level: Serve as the primary thought partner to the General Manager, simplifying extreme complexity into clear recommendations that shape the trajectory of the business.

  • Build a High-Performing Org: Drive workforce management and organizational design initiatives, making the tough trade-offs on headcount and resources to ensure we are set up to win.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or high-growth tech/logistics operations.

  • Proficiency in SQL and advanced modeling (Google Sheets/Excel) is a must; you must be able to get your own data.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, ambiguous problem statements from inception to results.

  • Strong understanding of business economics, P&L management, and unit economics.

  • Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Systems thinker who understands the interplay between pricing, supply dynamics, and consumer behavior within a marketplace.

  • Experience navigating structural cost shifts or business model transformations in regulated environments.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive consensus across matrixed, global organizations.

  • Prior experience in marketplace, mobility, or delivery businesses.
