Engineering Manager II, Web - Uber Eats Growth
The Tech Center in Brazil is expanding and our teams are on the look for Engineering Managers to develop and grow their teams. All of our local teams work globally to develop features that impact millions of users worldwide as well as platform teams that support those engineering processes. All of our open roles are impactful and with global interactions.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Manage, coach, and grow members of their team.
- Define and execute on an ambitious product roadmap
- Lay out the technical vision for your area
- Develop and lead through the senior engineers on the team
- Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Design, and other partners
Basic Qualifications
- Proven track record of coaching and growing engineers.
- 4+ years of engineering management experience
- 7+ years experience in engineering
- Ability to execute and drive product roadmap
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Managed teams sized 5 - 10 people
Web foundations proficiency:
Our website architecture is primarily built on web technologies like React and Fusion.js, but the real priority is strong core web development skills. We handle heavy traffic (including bots too) and complex interactions and business cases, so we need engineers who can not only work effectively with these frameworks but also adapt to any new or evolving technologies in our stack. This without dropping the vitals like ensuring efficient rendering, optimal code splitting, and a consistently high quality user experienceCore focuses may include:
- Deep knowledge of web fundamentals including proven proficiency on javascript, css, html. React is important too so proficiency and fluency in React is needed
- Advanced scalable state management in large codebases as they will use multiple libraries that compose our website. Redux is a must, but the ability to adapt is crucial too
- Understanding of rendering strategies and optimization techniques as our website performance directly affects user experience, therefore conversion and at the end GB from our users to the company
