Global Lead, Airports & Travel Strategy
About the Role
At Uber, we are reimagining the way the world moves. Our business is a vast, dynamic ecosystem, spanning hundreds of cities and dozens of countries. From a rider grabbing an UberX to get to a meeting, to a family using Uber Green for a more sustainable trip to the airport, to a commuter trying our latest e-bike for the first time, our portfolio of products is connecting people and their communities in ways never before possible. We operate at a massive scale, but our mobility aspiration remains simple: to provide reliable, safe, and accessible transportation for everyone, everywhere.
While Uber has a massive, established presence at airports, the next phase of our evolution involves transforming the platform into an indispensable travel companion for every stage of the journey—from pre-trip planning to transport and dining in a destination city.
You will act as the primary orchestrator of Uber’s global airports and travel strategy. This is a high-impact, "IC+" leadership role, with a small but mighty team of humans and AI agents. You will be responsible for aligning Operations (global, regional and market level), Product, BD, Marketing, Finance and Policy stakeholders to unlock the enormous opportunity ahead of us—moving beyond simple airport pickups to owning the traveler’s entire experience in an "away" city.
You will have outstanding strategic acumen, surfacing the right questions to guide which choices we’ll make next, and uncover the critical data-driven insights that help us make better decisions. You will hold the team accountable for delivering impact against clearly stated goals, in a frequently ambiguous environment. You are an inspiring thought partner, who can influence stakeholders and get people excited about the future direction of our global airports & travel business.
What You’ll Do
- Strategy: Articulating, and continuously improving, a cohesive strategy with a very clear ‘where to play and how to win’ that is backed by killer insights. Driving alignment across functions to make sure everyone is bought in, and communicating this broadly so we run in the same direction.
- Strategy: Surfacing and responding to the most important questions we need to answer/ choices we need to make as a team. With a mix of quantitative and qualitative work, collaborative cross functional engagement,, as well as a lot of commercial acumen and instinct, recommend the choices we should make.
- Insights: Collating quantitative and qualitative insights from consumer, earners and airports, and packaging these into powerful insights that help us make smart choices. Collating industry and competitive information into well packaged formats to circulate amongst relevant stakeholders. Minimize the effort for others to stay on top of what’s happening in our industry.
- Automation: Identify high impact opportunities to use Gen AI to augment, or take over, work that our team (and closely related teams eg partner managers) needs to do. Think about how Gen AI unlocks new capabilities that were previously too hard to manage at scale (eg growth for long tail airports).
- Planning: Build comprehensive business models to project growth and investment requirements, ROI, and time horizons for core business growth and new strategic bets.
- Planning: Create and manage a strategic planning process to define, sequence, and resource our most critical growth initiatives, collaborating effectively with existing planning processes in other functions.
- Reporting: Establish and oversee a regular review process to track progress against strategic goals, facilitating discussions on necessary pivots in investment or resource allocation.
- Reporting: Produce high impact narratives, reporting and commentary for relevant forums, in close collaboration with finance and other key stakeholders
