About the Role

Uber's Chief Legal Office (CLO) is seeking an experienced and strategic Global Head of Legal Operations to lead the operations, technology, and transformation agenda for our global legal organization.

This role is responsible for defining and executing the operational, technology, data, and AI strategy for a global legal organization supporting Uber's rapidly evolving business. The Global Head of Legal Operations will lead a high-performing team of legal operations, program management, product, analytics, AI, and technology professionals focused on transforming how legal work is performed, measured, and delivered.

The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational excellence and possesses the ability to see both the forest and the trees. They are an enterprise leader capable of shaping long-term organizational strategy while driving execution across a complex portfolio of initiatives. This individual will partner closely with CLO leadership, business executives, and technology teams to reimagine legal service delivery through AI, automation, data, and process innovation.

As AI continues to reshape the legal profession, this leader will play a critical role in helping the CLO identify, adopt, and responsibly apply emerging technologies. Success will require not only technology expertise, but also the ability to drive organizational change, build trust, develop new ways of working, and foster a culture of experimentation and continuous learning across the legal organization.

Success in this role requires a highly collaborative leader who can influence at all levels of the organization, operate effectively across global teams, and build alignment among diverse stakeholders while delivering measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the long-term strategy, operating model, and roadmap for Legal Operations across the global Chief Legal Office.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of legal operations, technology, AI, analytics, product, and program management professionals.
  • Drive the CLO's AI strategy and transformation agenda, helping teams understand, embrace, and responsibly apply AI to improve how legal work is performed, managed, and scaled.
  • Serve as a thought leader for AI within the CLO, building organizational capability, fostering responsible adoption, and helping shape how legal services are delivered in an AI-enabled future.
  • Lead AI adoption across the CLO by identifying high-impact use cases, championing experimentation, establishing governance frameworks, and helping teams integrate AI into their day-to-day work in practical and responsible ways.
  • Partner with CLO leadership to establish strategic priorities, operational goals, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Provide executive oversight for the CLO technology portfolio, including matter management, contract lifecycle management, eBilling, legal intake, knowledge management, analytics, and bespoke AI solutions.
  • Build and maintain a data-driven culture through key performance indicators, operational dashboards, and executive reporting frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and optimize legal processes across the organization.
  • Drive vendor strategy and governance, including management of legal technology providers, alternative legal service providers, and outside counsel operational programs.
  • Oversee complex internal and external partnerships, including relationships with law firms, alternative legal service providers and vendors.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CLO leadership on organizational design, change management, technology investments, and strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships across Uber's global business and legal teams to ensure Legal Operations continues to evolve alongside company growth and strategic priorities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Legal Operations, with demonstrated success managing multiple complex operational functions.
  • 7+ years of experience leading high-performing teams in complex, global organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise-scale operational transformation initiatives.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams spanning legal operations, technology, analytics, program management, and product functions.
  • Experience leading AI adoption, change management, or technology transformation initiatives within legal, compliance, or other professional services environments.
  • Experience leveraging generative AI, workflow automation, predictive analytics, and emerging technologies to transform business operations.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience managing large-scale programs, budgets, vendors, and operational portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of corporate legal department operations, outside counsel management, and legal service delivery models.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$229,000 per year - USD$254,000 per year.
