About the Role

Uber’s Litigation Team handles a broad litigation portfolio, touching on antitrust, marketing, IP, privacy, securities, accessibility, contract, unfair competition, and everything in between.

We are seeking an exceptional, business-oriented attorney to manage an array of complex U.S. corporate litigation and provide legal advice related to all delivery lines of business, including UberEats.

This position will report to a Legal Director and can be based in San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Washington D.C., or New York. This is a great opportunity to join a best-in-class legal department and work on cutting edge issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and lead strategy for a diverse range of corporate litigation matters across the country, in a multitude of practice areas and at various procedural stages (from pre-litigation threats and small claims to class certification, trial/arbitrations, and appeals) for all delivery lines of business
  • Take a hands-on approach to all facets of litigation, including fact investigation, drafting and revising legal briefs, responding to discovery requests, preparing witnesses for testimony, and negotiating and drafting settlements
  • Bring legal work in-house where possible; supervise all aspects of outside counsel relationships, including staffing, litigation strategy, budgets and invoices, compliance with outside counsel guidelines, and work product
  • Craft succinct, practical legal advice to achieve ambitious business goals, including counseling the business on contracts, advertising, trade secret protection, and current/future products
  • Identify, review, analyze, and mitigate litigation risks

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5+) years of broad litigation experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state

Preferred Qualifications

  • Team player mentality, including good sense of humor and willingness to pitch in on projects no matter how big or small
  • Know-how and self-sufficiency to manage a case through pleadings, motion practice, complex e-discovery, dispute resolution and trial
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills, including stellar case evaluation abilities and the capacity to oversee a large portfolio of matters
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with leaders in the delivery business
  • High ethical, moral and personal values
  • Some practical experience with court hearings, depositions, mediations or trials a plus
  • Familiarity with eDiscovery issues, including document retention policies and procedures as well as collection, review, and production of documents
  • Enthusiastic about Uber!

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$187,000 per year - USD$208,000 per year.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year.

For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
