Head of Public Policy & Government Relations ANZ
About the Role
Uber is seeking a seasoned public policy leader to lead our Australia and New Zealand Public Policy team, managing three direct reports and driving engagement with governments, regulators, industry bodies, and key stakeholders across both markets.
This role will shape and execute Uber's public policy strategy across our Mobility and Delivery businesses, supporting sustainable growth, innovation, and the future of work in two of our most important markets.
What You'll Do
Lead and execute Uber's public policy strategy across Australia and New Zealand.
Serve as Uber's primary representative with ministers, policymakers, regulators, and industry associations.
Build and maintain influential relationships with external stakeholders, advocacy groups, and coalition partners.
Advise senior business leaders on emerging political, regulatory, and legislative developments.
Anticipate policy risks and opportunities, developing proactive advocacy strategies that support Uber's business objectives.
Lead high-impact advocacy campaigns, policy submissions, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Manage and develop a high-performing cross-border policy team, building scalable processes and operating rhythms.
Partner closely with ANZ leadership, Legal, Communications, Operations, and Product teams on complex regulatory issues.
What You'll Bring
10+ years' experience in public policy, government relations, political advisory, or related fields.
Deep understanding of Australian and New Zealand political systems, regulatory frameworks, and policymaking processes.
Proven experience influencing complex policy outcomes in highly regulated or rapidly evolving industries.
Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Preferred Background
We are particularly interested in candidates from:
Technology platforms, mobility, delivery, fintech, short-term rentals, social media, or other disruptive industries.
Political advisory roles, industry associations, peak bodies, or in-house public policy teams.
Large corporates with significant government engagement responsibilities.
Experience navigating issues such as the future of work, worker classification, platform regulation, transport policy, consumer regulation, or food delivery policy will be highly regarded.
