Lead Product Manager, Uber Logistics

Product Management, Product
New York, New York |
Seattle, Washington
Full Time

About the Role

As a Lead Product Manager for Uber Direct, you will be at the forefront of Uber’s evolution from an on-demand delivery app to a global logistics powerhouse. You will build a new infrastructure designed to move physical goods across cities with the same ease we move people.

Uber Direct & Logistics sits at the intersection of many teams at Uber. The role will be cross-cutting across all sides of the Uber marketplace (merchant, courier, marketplace, and the end customer, whether business or consumer). You will work closely with technical, as well as non-technical collaborators across the globe, coordinating with business development, sales, operations, data science, design, engineering, and other teammates to set the team’s roadmap and complete it.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

  1. Define the Future of Uber Logistics: Lead the product vision for our parcel delivery business, moving beyond food and groceries to create a robust, end-to-end logistics platform for retail and e-commerce.
  2. Set Couriers up for Success: Launch and scale new courier offerings that support longer-distance and multi-stop parcel routes, ensuring a seamless experience for couriers handling complex delivery sequences.
  3. Innovate on Efficiency: Collaborate with Data Science and Engineering to build next-generation batching and routing algorithms that maximize density and minimize cost-per-delivery.
  4. Scale a New Line of Business: Treat the parcel vertical as your own business, owning the key performance metrics and removing every friction point that stands between a merchant's warehouse and a customer's doorstep.
  5. Global Strategic GTM: Partner with commercial and operations leads across the globe to identify high-growth opportunities, adapting your product roadmap to fit the unique logistics needs of different international markets.

---- Basic Qualifications ----

  1. Minimum 6+ years of product experience delivering successful and innovative products with your fingerprints all over them
  2. Macro-Vision, Micro-Execution. You are a master of both the "why" and the "how." You can architect a long-term logistics strategy and then immediately roll up your sleeves to understand delivery reliability issues that are impacting our customers today.
  3. Attention to detail. The ability to obsess over every single part of the delivery process, anywhere in the world
  4. Customer obsession. The ability to take on complex product challenges and find elegant, simplifying solutions, so they don’t become our users problems
  5. Finger-tippiness with data. You find a way to get the data you need and whip it into an insightful story with no help. You know how to demonstrate this data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
  6. A “Driver” mindset. You are biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master disambiguator/simplifier, and constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  7. Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on
  8. A true passion for Uber's mission and our products

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

  1. Experience building products from 0-1
  2. Strong marketplace experience
  3. Strong analytical and experimentation background
  4. Owning and leading strategy for a line of business
