About the Role

Grocery and Retail is a core growth engine for Uber Eats, helping consumers get everything from everyday essentials to specialty items delivered quickly and reliably across the United States and Canada.

As a Strategic Operations Manager you will drive improvements to the reliability and quality of our US&C Grocery and Retail business. This operations role calls for a combination of creative problem-solving, operational optimization, data analytics, and project management. You should be comfortable in an "all hands on deck" environment, enjoy solving problems and thrive in a startup environment. In this highly collaborative role, you will work cross-functionally with local operations teams, product, and finance to help grow Uber’s grocery and retail business.

What You’ll Do

  • Marketplace Strategy & Optimization: Define, monitor, and optimize the strategic operating points for the US&C Grocery & Retail marketplace. Proactively identify improvements to products and operational configurations to drive seamless fulfillment and magical user experiences
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between Operations, Product, Tech, and Finance. You will advocate for operational needs in the product roadmap and ensure that new features align with the unique requirements of the G&R marketplace
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, diagnose root causes of marketplace friction, and develop actionable insights
  • End-to-End Project Management: Scope, launch, and scale high-priority projects. You will take ownership of the full lifecycle—from initial ideation and financial modeling to execution and post-launch measurement
  • Process Excellence: Develop and scale playbooks that improve operational rigor. You will translate complex challenges into structured frameworks that can be applied across the North American market to ensure consistency and reliability

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in strategy, operations, analytics, consulting, or a related high-growth environment
  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data analysis and automation; proficiency in SQL or Python is a strong plus
  • Experience using AI-assisted development or productivity tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to accelerate workflows
  • Prior experience in logistics, e-commerce, or retail operations
  • Familiarity with financial modeling or budgeting and an understanding of how operational levers impact the P&L

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to use data to inform strategy and operational decisions

  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional workstreams and delivering measurable impact in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex technical or operational concepts to diverse stakeholders
