The impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) is being felt by our communities around the world. Our teams are working around the clock to assist public health authorities in their response to the pandemic, and to take actions that support driver and delivery partners, users, and business partners, both large and small.
To ensure that we’re making the best decisions, following advice from government and local health authorities. Here are the latest developments in our ongoing global response.

Stay at home, if possible
The most important thing you can do right now is to stay home if possible. This is especially critical if you’re feeling sick. This will help limit the spread of the virus and flatten the curve. Let’s help keep driver-partners safe and ensure that rides are available for those who need them.
All our rides services, excluding UberPool, are still available for those who need them for essential travel. If you must travel, please follow these tips to help keep your community healthy.
When taking rides:
- Wash your hands. Before and after you ride.
- Cover your mouth and nose. If you sneeze or cough, do so into your elbow or a tissue.
- Sit in the back. Give your driver space by sitting in the back seat. This means you can only ride with a maximum of 3 people from one household.
- Open the window. If possible, roll down the window to improve ventilation.
To maximise safety, we’re encouraging driver-partners to keep their cars clean by wiping down and disinfecting them between trips, and to stay home if they’re unwell.
You can still order from your local favourites on UberEats
Uber Eats is still open for business and is working with tens of thousands of restaurant partners across Australia so they can bring your favourite food to you, every day of the week. We’re working with public health authorities and your local restaurant community to make sure safety and reliability are the top priority.
When ordering through Uber Eats:
- “Leave at door” delivery: Look for the automatic “leave at door” feature at checkout to help protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.
- Wash your hands: Especially after receiving your food order and before you eat it.
- Food safety: We’re regularly sharing safety best practices from public health authorities with our restaurant partners and delivery partners.
We are temporarily suspending JUMP e-bike services
The Victorian and South Australian Governments have taken strong measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and have asked our communities to remain at home during this time. In light of these measures, we have temporarily suspended our JUMP e-bike service in Melbourne and Adelaide until further notice. We will let you know as soon as we resume our JUMP operations.
Extending your Uber Rewards status and supporting those in need
Right now, we’re asking everyone to only travel if essential. This will obviously impact the amount of Uber Rewards points you’re earning. This should be the last thing on your mind.
For Gold, Platinum and Diamond members in Australia & New Zealand whose tiers are expiring between April 1 – May 31, we are automatically re-qualifying you for the same tier for the subsequent qualifying period. For example, if you are currently Gold on April 1 (the day you expire), irrespective of whether you have re-qualified for Gold, you will be extended to gold for the next 6 months. If you qualified for a higher tier based on your spend, you will get that higher tier.
If you earn a Reward through your Uber Eats orders, you can choose to do something to help your community or support yourself and your family during this time. Next time you earn a Reward, go to the Rewards tab in the app, and select ‘50% off Uber Eats on Pick up orders’. See below for details:
