Thank you for letting us move you in the last 2.5 years, Mzansi! As part of this incredible adventure, we thought we’d crunch a few numbers and let you know exactly how much you’ve moved us.
As of February 2016, we’ve moved over half a million of you across South Africa.
We have travelled approximately 93 000 000 km between 2013 and 2016.
That’s almost the exact distance to make 121 trips to the moon – and back!
As our trips have expanded, so have our options.
From uberBLACK to uberX, we have become synonymous with a seamless, yet stylish experience. Add uberXL, uberCHOPPER and uberFAMILY to the mix, and you have different car types for the different needs of a truly diverse country.
The longest Uber trip took place from Johannesburg to Durban and lasted approximately 6 hours over a distance of 580km!
The average ETA in SA is 4 minutes.
That’s equivalent to the time it takes to complete 200 sit-ups, take 64 breaths or show off your best Macarena moves.
We’re in a total of 5 cities in SA.
In 2013, we launched Uber in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. Fast forward to 2016, and we’re in a total of 5 cities in South Africa! What lies ahead? #UberEverywhere
