New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year. It’s a great night to make money and to try to help riders in your city ring in the new year more safely. Many drivers are able to take advantage of the increase in ride requests in the hours leading up to New Year’s Eve celebrations (6pm – 11pm) while still attending their own celebrations.

And whether you decide to drive or not, we want to wish you a happy new year!

Planning your night

  • Last year on New Year’s Eve, ride requests picked up around 6pm
  • Requests slowed down in the hour before midnight
  • Ride requests picked up between midnight and 4am

Safety features in the app


From the Safety Toolkit in your app, you can share your trip status with loved ones or tap the emergency button to contact 911 in app. And you can talk to someone from our 24/7 Support team at any time by tapping Help in your app. Through Uber Pro, drivers in many states also have Roadside Assistance.

Go to the Promotions section of your app to see ways you may be able to make extra money.


Get $15 for returning lost items



If you find a lost item in your car, you could earn $15 for returning it to its rightful owner. You can report lost items in the Help tab of the app. Read more here about how to return lost items.
