In cities around the world, riders and drivers will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this Saturday, March 17. Local events featuring shamrocks, corned beef and cabbage, and the occasional pot o’ gold will be filling streets with seas of green. In the past, this has been a big day for ride requests as people head out to celebrate the holiday. To help you prepare to take on the luckiest day of the year, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

7 tips to help make your day extra lucky

1. How to handle lost items

If an unlucky rider accidentally leaves one of their belongings behind, we’re here to help. Simply follow this link—you’ll be prompted to take a photo of the item and share a few details. The rider will likely contact you within 48 hours after the trip to arrange a mutually beneficial time and location to retrieve the lost item.

2. Cancellation policy

During busy events, connecting with or waiting on riders can sometimes lead to a poor experience for you. This is why Uber has a cancellation policy implemented in most cities. This policy does vary city by city, and you can see the details for your area here.

3. Sleepy riders

After a long day of St. Patrick’s Day fun, riders can sometimes get a bit sleepy during the journey to their destination. In the event that a rider falls asleep while in your vehicle, here are some suggestions for how to respond.

4. Navigating parade routes

Should your city have a parade this weekend, please keep the local parade route(s) in mind. Parades frequently block off multiple city blocks, and this may alter the suggested pickup route to find your rider. Please check online resources to find routes for celebrations in your area, and keep them in mind while on the road.

5. How to contact your rider

Unsure of where to meet your rider? At the arrival spot but not sure which rider is yours? There are times when contacting your rider makes the experience much easier. To learn more information about contacting riders, click here.

6. Community Guidelines

It’s our goal for Uber to be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. There are a few ground rules designed to ensure that riders and drivers have 5-star rides. Behavior matters, which is why we have firm Uber Community Guidelines.

7. How to contact support

Need help from the Uber team? Let us know! We’re happy to lend a hand to help you have a smooth driving experience.

No matter how riders in your city celebrate, we hope these tips help you have a safe and enjoyable St. Patrick’s Day this year.
