We are deeply concerned about safety and we are always looking at ways we can make Uber safer and more reliable for you.

We’d like to remind you of the safety features Uber offers, please use these features to increase your security when requesting a ride and traveling with a driver-partner.

Verify your driver and vehicle before getting into the car

Make sure you get into the correct vehicle, with the correct driver-partner! The Uber app provides you with the details of your driver as soon as the driver accepts your request. Please use this information to verify your driver is indeed the same driver-partner that accepted your request via the app.

Be sure to:

  • Check the driver’s first name
  • Check the photo corresponds to the driver-partner in the vehicle
  • Ensure the vehicle type and license plate number are the same as those given in the app

Share your ETA and location with a friend or family member

We encourage you to share your ETA (estimated time of arrival) and location with a friend or loved one. This is easily done via the app and can be shared with anyone – without the friend or family member ever needing to download the Uber app themselves. Using this feature means you can share your destination and route for peace of mind. Friends or family will receive a link where they can see, in real time, the name and photo of your driver, their vehicle, and where you are on the map, until you’ve arrived safely at your destination. We also recently introduced a new feature called Family ProfilesThis feature allows up to 10 riders to safely and easily share one card as a payment method.

Track your trip

Uber’s GPS features let you track your trip by viewing the route on the map in the app. From the minute you request a ride you can track the vehicle on the way to pick you up. Track the trip via the app to know exactly where you are headed and that you’re headed in the right direction. Uber also uses GPS to keep a record of where a driver-partner goes during the ride, meaning Uber can verify that the most efficient routes are being used.

Charge your phone

Having a charged phone ensures you can see your driver’s details and track your trip while on the ride. If you know you cell phone is likely to die, Uber recommends you use a friend or families phone to login to your Uber account to get your driver’s information and then share your ETA with a friend or family member.

Make sure to leave feedback

Always provide detailed feedback after your trip to keep Uber updated. This helps driver-partners keep standards high and Uber to address any concerns.
