Uber and its partnered taxi fleets as well as Uber Eats announced a total commitment of up to NT$15 million to support taxi driver partners and delivery partners who test positive for COVID. As confirmed cases have spiked in recent weeks since the Taiwan government shifted towards living with COVID policy, this industry-first assistance program aims to provide some assistance as part of our corporate social responsibilities to impacted partners on both Uber and Uber Eats who choose to serve the consumers and public during this tough time.

Throughout the months of May and June, eligible taxi driver partners of Uber-partnered taxi fleets and delivery partners on the Uber Eats platform who test COVID-positive and are required to quarantine under government guidelines can apply for a one-time financial assistance. Co-funded by Uber and its 8 partnered taxi fleets, active fleet partners’ taxi drivers with at least 1 completed trip in the recent 30 days who present valid polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or At-Home COVID Kit test results, or Taiwan Digital COVID-19 positive Certificate are eligible to apply for a one-off financial assistance of NT$5,000 starting today. Delivery partners with 100 completed trips in the last 30 days who present COVID-Positive record and full vaccination record in My Health Bank App are eligible to apply for a one-off financial assistance of NT$3,000 starting at noon May 18.

Raymund Li, General Manager of Uber Taiwan, said “The safety of our partners, including fleet partners’ taxi drivers and delivery partners, are on top of our mind throughout the pandemic crisis in Taiwan. Further to the Safety First measures to help keep the community safe, the financial assistance initiative aims to show our support in line with the government policy to move towards a normal life against the COVID headwind. We are ready to move people, food and groceries for consumers in Taiwan to help the public cope with uncertainties in the COVID normalization transition.”
