Bangkok, Thailand, 22 February 2018 – Uber Eats, an on demand food delivery app that satisfies the urban lifestyle at the push of a button, celebrates its first anniversary in Thailand, the nation of food lovers.   The anniversary marks Uber Eats’ year of successful achievements and a commitment to move forward as a leader in online food delivery technology, connecting well-known restaurants in Bangkok to delivery-partners and consumers.  On this special occasion, Uber Eats is also recognizing its restaurant partners for their outstanding popularity over the past year at the People’s Choice 2017 Award.

Uber Eats is growing at a tremendous rate in Thailand, going in one year from 100 to over 1,300 restaurant partners, with more than 1 million dishes delivered.   Uber Eats strives to continue to bring endless possibilities of food for consumers and those they care about, every day, for all occasions and at an affordable price, with the plan to continue to increase services throughout Bangkok.   Uber Eats will continue to utilize its technology to better serve consumers with improved user experiences while empowering restaurant partners to grow their businesses with unique consumer insights and analytics.

“We are thrilled with what we have accomplished throughout the last year and very much looking forward to our second year of service here in Thailand”, said Siripa Jungsawat, General Manager of Uber Thailand.  “We don’t just want to make eating effortless; we want it to be a truly affordable everyday experience. We are very proud of the quality and speed of our service – 30 minutes on average – and we are constantly optimizing our app to reflect the needs of Thai consumers, restaurants, and our delivery partners.”

According to Siripa, Uber Eats’ successful first year in Thailand would not be possible without the support of loyal consumers as well as delivery and restaurant partners. “We promise to continue to work to enhance the food delivery app experience, while providing restaurants with opportunities to increase their revenue”, she added.

To mark this milestone, five restaurant partners have today been awarded Uber Eats’ People’s Choice 2017 Award, recognizing these restaurants for their outstanding popularity over the past year.  The recipients of the award are: Sabsaded (Asoke), Easy Ribs & Wings, Daniel Thaiger, Pu Yen Ta Fo Noodle, and Khao Moo Dang Si Morakot.

According to these restaurant partners, Uber Eats has played a key role in helping grow their business over the past year.

Poodis Wongpanyarak from Sabsaded (Asoke) said, “Our overall customer base has expanded and we have achieved an excellent 20 percent increase in sales per month.”

Parinya Varapornpitak from the famous Pu Yen Ta Fo Noodle added, “We usually saw a noticeable decrease in drop-in customers during the rainy season. But with Uber Eats, we have seen a steady increase in sales, especially on weekends.”

Yuthdanai Kaewseemorakot from Khao Moo Dang Si Morakot Restaurant said, “The Uber Eats app brought in between 80,000 – 100,000 baht per month with orders from office workers in the neighborhood from both Thais and foreigners.  Many of them are now regulars.”

Restaurant partners also affirmed  that technology behind Uber Eats also helps them expand their reach and understand their consumers better.

Pritshayada Piriyametha from Easy Ribs & Wings said, “From our 1-year experience we have been well received by app-based customers, accounting for 10 percent of the total sales. The  data Uber Eats shares with us is highly insightful and helps us further refine our meal offerings.”

Honey Falcioni from Daniel Thaiger added, “As a food truck, our service hours are limited, but partnering with Uber Eats has helped connect us with more customers. Uber Eats’ technology enables us to achieve 30-40 percent growth in sales on a weekly basis.”
