HELP NEEDED: 10,000 supporters of Ridesharing
Written byThai citizens support ridesharing and the benefits it brings to riders, drivers and cities across the Kingdom. We know this because multitudes of people have downloaded the app, and use it every day. We also know this because 50,000 people have signed an online petition asking for our technology to be regulated.
Despite this, ridesharing remains unregulated in Thailand. But we know that Thai people are determined. So, we are launching a new effort, using the right under the 2017 Constitution for Thai people to suggest proposed amendments or new laws to the National Assembly. We are asking for a simple amendment to the the Motor Vehicle Act B.E. 2522 (1979) to allow reclassification of ridesharing as an acceptable form of public transport.
To do that, 10,000 Thai citizens must download a form, sign it, and either mail them to us or drop them off in person at Uber’s Partner Support Centres or citywide Partner Registration Booths. That sounds a lot of work, but given the passion for ridesharing in the Kingdom, it is surely achievable. For more information on how to do this, visit t.uber.com/regTH. We will keep you informed of our progress.
