Get a taxi driver's license
With millions of riders all over the world, Uber is a great way to make money — but first you need a license to operate in Sweden. It usually takes 12 weeks to complete the process to get your taxi driver's license (taxiförarlegitimation).SEE DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
Step by step
Apply for your taxi driver's license
1. Sign up online
Tell us which city you'd like to drive in and select the option "I do not have a taxi license". Please go ahead and upload your driver's license.
2. Book an intro session
Start your journey by booking a free appointment in your city. We will tell you everything you need to know about how to get your license.
- Your Uber registration details (phone & email)
- Driver's license (type B, min 2 years, or type D)
3. Pass the tests
You will need to pass three theory tests and a driving test. You do all tests at Trafikverket and can book them through the link below. It’s a good idea to spend time to prepare for these tests - Uber can help you for free. Book an intro session (step 2) to get more information.
4. Complete a medical check
Visit your local medical centre to get a medical certificate (läkarintyg). This document certifies that you are medically fit to work as a professional driver, and must be issued by a licensed doctor.
5. Apply for your license
The final step is to submit your license application to Transportstyrelsen. If you are able to verify your identify electronically (e.g. through BankID), you can submit your application online using the link below.
