Partnership aimed to help provide increased mobility options for all those under the care of “Albir Society”

Uber announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with “Albir Society” in Jeddah to help provide increased mobility options for all those under the society’s care.

Albir Society affirmed that the new agreement will provide reliable, affordable and easy-access transportation to 200 kidney dialysis patients under the care of “Albir Society” to and from dialysis centres.

For her part, Eethar Al-Hassan, Uber Saudi Arabia Marketing Manager said: “Uber has always been committed to giving back to the communities we serve. And this, coupled with our goal of making transportation more accessible to people of all stripes and backgrounds, made “Albir” a natural choice of a partner. Through this partnership, we’re hoping to use our technology to make transportation more readily available and reliable for those most in need in Jeddah.”

Albir Society in Jeddah runs a number of charitable projects, including an endowment program that ensures proper care is provided to vulnerable families and kidney dialysis patients. The society has successfully accommodated over 900 orphans, endowed over 2000 underprivileged families, and provided more than 40,000 dialysis sessions to over 290 kidney-failure patients, as well as supplied the necessary medicines, vaccines, and monthly checks to all those in need without distinction or exception.

Uber has recently launched ‘Masaruky’ (“your path” in Arabic) initiative – which was announced earlier in March and includes a SAR 1 million pledge that aims to increase women’s participation in the workforce through access to affordable transportation, in addition to increasing women’s access to flexible, part-time economic opportunities through the use of Uber technology.
