Ensuring a sustainable business model for driver-partners
Written byEvery day, the Uber app is used to connect riders who need an affordable means of transportation with drivers able to earn money on their own terms.
For drivers, the opportunity to generate income when they want, where they want is one of the main reasons why they drive with Uber.
However, the costs that driver partners have to bear to maintain their vehicles is projected to increase due to several factors, including requirements under the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG) to further improve safety and quality of service, increasing fuel prices, and new excise taxes on petroleum.
With this impact in mind, we submitted a petition to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for a fare adjustment which, if approved, would increase trip fares on Uber. We are doing this to ensure driver partners earn sustainably. We are committed to investing in the business in the Philippines so riders and drivers continue to get the service they are accustomed to.
Under our new proposal, the fare per kilometer for uberX will range from ₱9.00 to ₱12.00 depending on the time of day. The base fare and time charge will remain the same.
Uber in the Philippines is committed to delivering the best experience for riders and drivers, whether that be through new safety features, better customer support, or tech innovations to improve reliability.
