At Uber, we believe every rider is important, even those with four paws and a tail. So we’re excited to announce a new type of Uber is coming to the windy city – Uber Pet!
Following a successful trial in Auckland, Uber Pet is launching in Wellington, just in time for Bring Your Dog to Work day on June 26 and Pets at Work Day on July 7. So if your colleagues have gotten to know your dog or cat over video calls, there’s never been a better time to introduce them in person!
Uber Pet is specifically designed to give animal lovers peace of mind that their much-loved companions will be welcomed along for a comfortable and reliable ride.
Not only is it a win for pet parents and their furry friends, Uber Pet provides drivers who stay opted in another opportunity to earn more. The trip will attract a $5 NZD ‘pet fee’ on top of the standard ride fare.
So, as you make plans for your next adventure outside of the house, you can now take your pet along for the ride. Debut them at Pet Fridays at the office, drop by a doggy yoga class, or pop into a local pet friendly pub – knowing there’s a reliable, convenient and safe way for both of you to get from A to B, at the push of a button.
How Uber Pet works
- Uber Pet will be available from June 25 in Wellington, in addition to Auckland, as a separate product in the Uber app. Simply request the Uber Pet product to be matched with a driver who is eligible and willing to transport you and your furry family member.
- Uber Pet trips will attract a $5 NZD surcharge.
- If you’re travelling with a service animal, you should continue to select your regular Uber option. Assistance animals are legally allowed to go everywhere their owner goes.
