Uber Eats reaches 13 New Zealand cities: Queenstown, New Plymouth and Nelson to launch in October
Written byWe’ve made no secret of our big plans for New Zealand in 2020.
Earlier this year we announced we’d be doubling the number of New Zealand cities Uber Eats is in by the end of 2020 – taking our tally from six cities to thirteen.
With 10 cities live in New Zealand, we are excited to now bring the launch of the platform to Queenstown, New Plymouth and Nelson from early October.
The app will feature your homegrown favourite restaurants around town and highlight some potentially new cuisines that are on offer.
With a year of lockdowns and restrictions, we’re excited to give more New Zealanders the chance to step away from their stovetops and support local restaurants – all from the comfort of their own homes.
We’ve seen great uptake by restaurants since the launch of Palmerston North, Napier, Hastings and Rotorua this year. So when we saw that the Uber Eats app was opened across the upcoming cities over 13,000 times over the last 6 months, it was definitely the right step.
At Uber Eats, we want to continue to reinvigorate the way local Kiwis receive their meals, with delivery and pickup options available – if the current lockdown level allows it, of course.
We’re also committed to providing new earning opportunities for delivery partners and restaurants alike. With this launch, we’ll bring more earning power into local communities along with greater freedom of choice and convenience for our customers.
