Uber Eats adds 12 new locations in Aotearoa, right in time for the holidays
Written byLocals and tourists will soon be able to experience the convenience of Uber Eats in 29 towns and cities around Aotearoa
For the past decade, Uber has played a key role in helping shape how Kiwis move, earn and shop. 70 million orders later and we’re still committed to growing further in Aotearoa.
Today, we’re announcing a significant expansion to the cities and towns where Uber Eats is available, bringing the platform to 12 new locations around New Zealand.
The expansion will enable more merchants, eaters and delivery people to use our technology to shop and earn, extending the convenience of Uber Eats to even more towns and regions around the country.
Since our launch in Aotearoa, over two million Kiwis have embraced the convenience of the Uber and Uber Eats app. We’re also proud to have supported more than 100,000 locals in earning through driving or delivering with us, across the platforms.
“We’re incredibly proud of the positive impact Uber has had in Aotearoa over the last 10 years, and we’re excited to bring the convenience of Uber Eats to 12 new locations across NZ,” said General Manager, Uber Eats Aotearoa Andy Bowie, “We know the hospitality industry is looking forward to a big summer, and this expansion means more Kiwis can experience the convenience of getting their favourite meals & grocery delivered straight to their doorstep, creating new opportunities for local businesses to grow and delivery people to earn.”
The latest towns discovering the benefits of Uber Eats in early November will be Taupō, Masterton, Levin, Whakatāne, Tokoroa, Te Awamutu, Hāwera in the North Island and Timaru, Blenheim, Ashburton, Oamaru and Wānaka in the South Island. We’re also growing our availability in existing regions, adding Paraparaumu and Feilding to our coverage near Wellington and Palmerston North.
The service expansion comes just in time for the Kiwi summer. Millions of overseas visitors have taken Uber rides and ordered through Uber Eats in Aotearoa’s major cities in the last ten years. Now, locals, tourists and Kiwis heading for the holidays will all be able to enjoy the convenience of Uber Eats as they travel around the motu, unlocking new customers for local businesses from Te Awamutu to Timaru.
“Discovering a new local spot when visiting a town is a classic part of a Kiwi summer break,” adds Bowie, “Uber Eats is all about making that process as convenient as possible, and now people can get a local flavour whether they’re stopping in Wānaka during a South Island roadie or heading home to Hāwera with the family.”
Uber Eats is currently available in seventeen towns, and with these additions that number will grow to twenty nine. That’s over one hundred thousand more Kiwis who can support local merchants in their regions, and have their favourite spots available for delivery.
Uber Eats will start being available in the new towns from early November onwards. The full list of cities where Uber Eats is already available in New Zealand can be found here.
