As summer temperatures spiked around the country, Kiwis turned to ice cold treats delivered directly to them, in an effort to cool down.

Order data from Uber Eats shows that ice cream orders increased 26% last week as eaters in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch turned to icy treats to beat the heat.

As Emma Foley, NZ Lead for Uber Eats, explained: “Kiwis are well known to be big fans of ice cream, which is highlighted by the spike in orders for frozen desserts we saw during last week’s heatwave.

“We’ve been pleased to help cool people down with ice cream deliveries from their favourite restaurants and eateries.”

Uber Eats connects consumers with more than 650 restaurants across New Zealand, including a great selection of eateries offering desserts as well as specialised ice cream and gelato outlets. These include Ben & Jerry’s, MELT by New Zealand Natural and Gelatiamo in Auckland, The Frogurt Store in Wellington and Rollickin Gelato Cafe in Christchurch.
