Getting to and from the Hamilton Airport just got a high tech makeover for travellers.

From today, a new drop-off and pick-up area is opening for Uber riders departing or arriving into Hamilton Airport, meaning travellers can get a ride at the touch of a button before or after their flight.

Via the Uber app, riders will be connected with driver-partners who are accredited to drive using the Uber app, having received a Passenger Endorsement licence issued by the NZ Transport Agency and passed a background check.

Uber has been operating in Hamilton since January 2018, providing locals and tourists with a safe, affordable and reliable transport option to get from A to B in the heart of Waikato.

Amanda Gilmore, NZ Country Manager, Uber, says “Our goal is to make transport as streamlined as possible for New Zealanders and visitors, and linking with airports is a crucial part of this. Now travellers in Hamilton can move from plane to terminal to Uber with ease – and locals have an alternative to driving.”

The partnership means there is a dedicated drop-off and pick-up zone located right outside the terminal.

Hamilton Airport Chief Executive, Mark Morgan, says “We’re excited to welcome Uber as a transport partner – providing another great option for passengers to travel to and from Hamilton Airport with ease.”

Hamilton is the latest airport to partner directly with Uber and joins Christchurch, Wellington and Tauranga airports which already allow pick-up and drop-offs for rideshare passengers.
