Getting to and from the airport in Queenstown, Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Nelson is about to get a lot easier as Uber announces partnerships with all four travel hubs.

From this month, Uber riders will for the first time be able to be dropped off and picked up at all four airports. This means that travellers can push a button and get a ride with the Uber app before or after their flight.

After months of lockdown and a few cancelled holidays, being able to push a button and get a ride when you touch down in one of these four great destinations will make it easier than ever for domestic, and eventually international visitors alike, to explore Aotearoa.

These partnerships are another example of Uber’s commitment in New Zealand, and another way we’re helping Kiwi’s Go Anywhere with the app in their pocket.

GM Finance and Commercial at Queenstown Airport, Andrew Williamson said; “we know our customers like having choice when they travel and we’re happy that Uber is now included in options for transport to and from Queenstown Airport.”

Palmerston North Airport Commercial and Customer Experience Manager Olivia Pierre said; “We are committed to improving the customer experience at Palmerston North Airport. Being able to offer an additional transport option right outside the terminal doors and keeping up with app-based technology customers enjoy is exciting. We are pleased to welcome Uber to our ground transport and airport community.”

Since Uber launched in Auckland in 2014, locals and visitors alike have been looking to Uber to access a tech-enhanced transport platform which includes GPS-tracked rides, an in-app Safety Toolkit, 24/7 customer support and feedback after every trip. And in 2019, visitors from more than 83 countries relied on the Uber app to get from A to B while travelling in Aotearoa.

How it works:

Queenstown Airport

  • Travellers will be able to book Uber trips to and from the airport and be picked up right outside the terminal in the Commercial Transfer Area.
  • Travellers will see in their app where to meet their driver partner and can also follow the signs to the Commercial Transfer Area.

Palmerston North Airport

  • Travellers will be able to book Uber trips to and from the airport and be picked up right outside the terminal.
  • Travellers will see in their app where to meet their driver partner and can also follow airport signs.

Queenstown, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Nelson are the latest airports to partner directly with Uber, and join Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington airports in allowing pick-up and drop-offs at the airport for rideshare passengers. Uber is also available at 600+ airports globally.
