FAQ – Simplifying your courier experience per Oct. 1 ‘23
8 November 2023 / NetherlandsFrom October 1st 2023 we have changed the way we do business.
First, we are simplifying. Under our old system, you paid a Service Fee to us, and we provided you with leads for restaurants who needed delivery services. You sold these services directly to the restaurant and we issued an invoice on your behalf, this led to a lot of invoices: one for each delivery.
Under our new way of working, you will be selling your delivery services directly to Uber Eats, instead of to the restaurant. This means you will now perform delivery services for us as our supplier, and we will pay you. You will not contract with restaurants directly. This will simplify your invoices: one customer, one weekly invoice. It also means that the Service Fee will be eliminated. (Due to this change, the way Delivery Fee is structured will also change.)
Other than that, the way you complete deliveries will not change. You remain free to use the Uber Eats App when and where you want, and you are not bound by any kind of exclusivity with Uber Eats.
Second, our old terms created a contractual relationship between you and Uber Portier B.V. Our new terms create a contractual relationship between you and Uber Eats NL B.V.
How will this change affect the delivery experience?
Operationally speaking, there won’t be any change in how to deliver orders: you will keep receiving order requests through the Uber app, you will pick up items from merchants and deliver to customers. Tips will still be working as before, and all your metrics showing in the app won’t be canceled or affected in any way, of course.
We will keep making sure to provide you with the best experience to let you earn at your own preferences and timetables – with just less invoices!
What does it mean that Uber Eats is changing the way it does business?
Until October 1st ‘23, Uber Eats has been acting as a platform that would connect you – a delivery services provider – with restaurants willing to buy those services in order to fulfill their customers’ orders.
You were therefore:
– Selling your services to restaurants, in exchange for a per trip delivery fee
– Buying lead generation services from Uber Eats, in exchange of a Service Fee
Now, we are simplifying this system. You will directly sell your delivery services to Uber Eats. Therefore:
– You will no longer pay a Service Fee to Uber Eats.
