Why do I need to rate?

When it comes to ensuring a high-quality experience for both riders and drivers with Uber, we’re always shooting for the stars — 5, to be exact! Accurate ratings help ensure quality on the Uber system.

Real-time feedback about drivers means Uber can review any concerns big and small – while ensuring that only the best drivers stay on the road. We take this feedback seriously – depending on the circumstances, rider feedback may lead to deactivating a partner from the system or serve as validation that the driver is providing great service. Despite what you see on hotel or restaurant review sites, a 4 star is not an above average rating on the Uber platform. If you were pleased with your driver, a 5 star rating will ensure he or she continues to succeed on the platform.

What do the ratings mean?

★★★★★ – A great trip! Overall it was a seamless experience.

★★★★ – A good trip! It was almost seamless experience but could have been better.

★★★ – An average trip. Overall experience was not a good experience.

★★ – A bad trip. Overall experience was really bad.

★ – A terrible trip. Everything was wrong with this trip. If you could you would get this driver off the road.

What if I am not happy with the trip fare?

Drivers do not control trip fares so please rate them purely on the quality of service and you can reply to your ride receipt or write to us directly at [email protected] with your concerns about the fare. However if a driver gets lost or takes a very poor route then this is indeed due to the driver’s actions and then an appropriate rating makes sense. We are always happy to review if you think you have been charged unfairly.  

Will a driver see the rating or feedback I give?

To protect rider and driver privacy, riders and drivers cannot view ratings. Driver-partners will never see exactly which rider or which trip received a specific rating and vice versa. Your written feedback is also kept completely anonymous.

I rated my driver wrongly?
