This week, we caught up with a female Uber partner-driver based in Abuja. Here is what she had to say about the platform and her experience so far:

Tell us about yourself?

My name is Nnyen Ebam. I graduated as an accountant and also run a catering business.

How did you hear about Uber?

I heard about Uber from my sister. She came home one day telling me about Uber, its convenience and flexibility. I got signed up on the platform, took the driver’s test and passed. Ever since then, i’ve been making some cool money!

What’s your experience so far driving on the platform?

Driving with Uber is fun! I have met a lot of interesting people. I have also been able to discover new and exciting places in Abuja. Most importantly, I have been able to balance my catering business with making extra income on the side.

What’s been the best part of your experience driving with Uber?

The best part is the convenience and seamlessness of the technology. I sit in the comfort of my home or car and I get trip requests. I don’t have to go about the street honking for riders.

What’s it like being a female driver on the platform?

A lot of people out there think driving is a man’s thing but it’s for both genders. I have enjoyed it and have been able to achieve personal goals using the additional income I make from Uber. I encourage ladies out there – those without jobs and those employed that need an extra source of income to join the Uber platform.
